Arantxa Mellado has more than 15 years experience in the book industry. She is the CEO and cofounder of The Spanish Digital Link and DataLibri, two companies experts on the Spanish speaking publishing markets and metadata for books.
She also teaches at the Master’s Degree on Publishing of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid as well as Universidad de Alcalá, and she is a regular panelist at local and international conferences.
Since 2011, Arantxa manages Liber Digital, the digital zone within Liber (the Spanish Book Fair), and Jornadas Liber, a three days Conference about digital publishing, during the Spanish Book Fair.
Previously, she was founder and CEO of Ediciona —the “linkedin” for publishing, a social networking for the Publishing industry people and companies–, chief editor at Editorial Emecé and Editorial Salamandra —both reputed independent Spanish Publishing Houses—, and owner of a publishing services company. She was a teacher at the Universitat Internacional de Cataluña, too.
As an author, Arantxa Mellado has written many reports and articles on publishing industry. The more recent are Selling Canadian Books in Spain, commissioned by Livres Canada Book (the Canadian publishers guild), the book Manual de los metadatos, an adapted to the Spanish industry version of The Metadata Handbook, by Renée register and Thad McIlroy. She also owns Actualidad Editorial, one of the most followed blogs in Spanish about digital publishing and publishing trends, where she writes as an analyst.
Arantxa holds a Master’s Degree in Law History from Universidad de Barcelona (Spain) and a Bachelors Degree in Law from Universidad de Barcelona.
